DALLAS (SMU) - The 10th-ranked SMU equestrian team held on for a 10-9 victory over No. 5 Oklahoma State at the Sleepy P Ranch on Sunday for its third home win over a ranked opponent this season. The Mustangs lost the western 7-2 but their 8-2 win in the hunt seat sealed the upset.
SMU (5-6) swept equitation over fences, 5-0. Schaefer Raposa scored a season-high 86 to defeat Maggie Gampfer (70). Raposa's ride garnered MOP honors, her first of the season. Emma Roberts and Sylvia de Toledo also scored in the 80's. Roberts won 85-64 over Maggie Drysch while de Toledo's 84 beat Carley Barrick's 80. Alex Butterworth won 72-67 over Allie Joyce and Leina King was triumphant 75-71 over Jorden Davis.
de Toledo, Butterworth and Roberts were responsible for the three SMU points in equitation on the flat. de Toledo rode an 81 to best Drysch's 77. Butterworth won 74-57 over Katie Jones and Roberts' 71 downed Kendall Pedigo's 62.
The Mustangs took two points in horsemanship. Morgan Redwine won her fourth head-to-head in the discipline after scoring a 73.5 to Miranda Reed's 73. Jaclyn White won her fifth of the season, 74-69, over Lindsey McMullen.
SMU did not earn a point in reining but a tie would ensure a Mustang victory. Keagan Snively scored a 71.5, which Justine Peters tied on the last ride of the meet. With no point awarded and the score favoring SMU 10-9, the upset was cemented.
The Mustangs have one final regular season meet before heading to the United Conference Championship. SMU heads to Delaware State on March 20 for a meet at the Gambler's Choice Equestrian Center.

SMU seniors Courtney Line, Megan Osteen, Greer Hindle, Emma Roberts and Kendall Skreden were recognized before the meet as a part of Senior Day.
SMU finished its 2014-15 home schedule 3-0. Each win was over a ranked opponent: No. 1 Georgia, No. 5 Oklahoma State and No. 7 Texas A&M.
