United Rider Of The Month Honors For Raposa

DALLAS (SMU/NCEA) -- Schaefer Raposa was named the United Equestrian Conference Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month for March, announced the National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Monday. This is the first monthly honor for Raposa who was 4-0 in over fences in four SMU victories in March.
The Clinton, New York, native was distinguished as Most Outstanding Performer in three of her head-to-head wins. Back-to-back scores of 86 propelled her in victories against Maggie Gampfer (Oklahoma State) and Carlin Savage (Delaware State). Raposa then won both matchups at the United Conference Championship in Fresno, California. She prevailed 163-140 over Amber Tassel (New Mexico State) and 165-160 against Kara Spicer (Fresno State).
Making March more memorable, Raposa claimed the 2015 Pin Oak Collegiate Invitational on March 22. The junior claimed the title after a scoring a 90 to defeat Tassel's 82 in championship round.
Raposa was also named an NCEA All-American Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year on April 8.
The Mustangs face Kansas State in the opening round of the NCEA Championship on April 16. The three-day event is held at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. It is the ninth consecutive year that the City of Waco and McLennan County have hosted the championship.
