Swimming And Diving Alumni Set For Pan American Games

DALLAS (SMU) - Three former Mustangs will represent their countries at the 2015 Pan American Games held at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Aquatics Centre and Field House July 14-18 in Toronto. Rachel Nicol will swim for host country Canada, while Isabella Arcila represents Colombia and Julian Fletcher looks to lead the team from Bermuda.
Three-time NCAA All-American Nicol earned herself a spot on team Canada after winning the 50- and 100-meter breaststrokes at the Canadian Trials in April. In the 100-meter victory, the Lethbridge, Alberta, native posted a lifetime best finish of 1:08.15. Nicol was one of five Mustangs to represent the school at the 2015 NCAA Championship, earning SMU's highest finish of eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Classmate Arcila capped off a successful four seasons at SMU with a pair of All-America honors in the 100-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay to bring her career total to seven. She also currently holds Colombian national records in the 50- and 100-meter freestyles.
On the men's side, Fletcher, who completed his eligibility following the 2014 season, will serve as a breaststroke specialist for Bermuda. The Warwick native currently holds multiple national records in the discipline.
