SMU Track And Field Earns Academic Accomplishments

DALLAS (SMU) - The US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced that the SMU track and field team, and two of its athletes, Stephanie Kalu and Karoline Skatteboe , has been named to its All-Academic Team and Individual list for the 2014-15 season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic list, the team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25. The individual must have qualified for any round of the NCAA Championships in the outdoor season, or was ranked in the top-96 of an individual event or in the top-48 in a relay event during the indoor season.
Kalu, a senior in 2014-15, had success in both the indoor and the outdoor seasons. During the outdoor campaign, she advanced to the NCAA West Regional Qualifier in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay and was named an honorable mention All-American in the 4x100m relay. Kalu and the SMU 4x100m relay team qualified for the NCAA Championships, finishing in 20th place.
Kalu placed third at the AAC Indoor Championships in the 60m.
Skatteboe finished first in the 3,000m steeple at the AAC Outdoor Championships. The rising senior was a member of the second place distance medley relay team and had a fourth place finish in the mile at the AAC Indoor Championships.
SMU track and field compiled an overall 3.32 grade point average and defended its title as the AAC Outdoor champions while finishing third in Indoor. Mustang cross country also enjoyed a successful season finishing third in the conference.
