Day 2 Results

NORMAN, Okla. (SMU) – Sophomore Liza Buss picked up two wins Saturday to advance to the singles flight one final at the Oklahoma Fall Invitational.

Buss defeated Texas Tech's Katelyn Jackson, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals before advancing to the finals after Oklahoma's Lily Miyazaki withdrew in the semifinal. She will face OU's Serena Nash tomorrow morning in the flight one singles final.

Ana Perez-Lopez also picked up two victories on the day after defeating Kansas State's Millie Stretton, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation quarterfinals and Wichita State's Tanaporn Thongsing, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) in the semifinals. Perez-Lopez will also compete tomorrow morning and will face Kansas State's Ana Garcia Navas in the consolation final.

In doubles action, Buss and Perez-Lopez recorded third place consolation victory (6-2) against Laura Arciniegas and Alexandra Heczey of North Texas.

In the doubles round robin, the Mustangs picked up their third doubles victory of the tournament when senior Macie Elliott and freshman Sara Jamal defeated Kansas State's Maria Paniate and Iva Bago, 6-3.

The tournament will conclude Sunday at 9 a.m. with the final round of singles.
