WACO, Texas (SMU) – SMU women's tennis picked up three victories Thursday on day one of the ITA Regional Championships.

Sophomore Liza Buss and freshman Sarai Monarrez Yesaki both advanced to the round of 64 in singles draws.

Buss defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Louise Trigona, 6-3, 6-3, while Monarrez Yesaki recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win against Lusine Chobanyan of UT Arlington.

In doubles action, Monarrez Yesaki picked up another victory after teaming up with sophomore Ana Perez-Lopez to defeat Abilene Christian's Erin Walker and Whitney Williams, 8-4.

The tournament will continue Friday at 9 a.m. CT at Hurd Tennis Center. Consolation singles and main draw singles will follow.
