Day 1 Results

DALLAS (SMU) – The Mustangs picked up six victories on day one of the SMU Invite Friday with a 3-1 record in doubles play and three wins in singles.

The Mustangs opened up play in doubles with Ana Perez-Lopez and Sarai Monarrez Yesaki picking up a 6-2 win against T.J. Fumagalli and Jocelle Rudico of Air Force. Mary Wright and Dasha Sharapova also advanced after a 6-3 victory against Miriam Rosell and Charleen Tiwari of UTSA.

Macie Elliot and Ellie Zogg moved on to the semifinals in their bracket after defeating Houston's Tsveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari, 6-3.

In singles play, Monarrez Yesaki and Wright both picked up victories against Marquette players. Monarrez Yesaki defeated Diana Tokar 6-2, 6-2, while Wright took down Paula Tormos Sanchez 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Ellie Zogg recorded her second victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Meredith Laskey of Air Force .

The tournament will continue Saturday at 11 a.m. with semifinals of doubles.
