Froling Named To Conference Weekly Honor Roll

Feb. 15, 2016

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) - Alicia Froling was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll for the sixth time this season after posting back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of games this week. The sophomore now has 12 double-doubles this season, including each of the last three games, the most since Janielle Dodds had 12 during the 2005-06 season.

F
roling scored 22 points in an overtime victory against East Carolina, eclipsing 20 points for the fourth time this season, and had 12 rebounds. At Tulane, she finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds, tallying at least 15 for the sixth time this year.

A native of Queensland, Australia, Froling leads the conference and is in the top 10 nationally with 273 rebounds, needing just 38 more to set an SMU single-season record. Shasta Smothers-Johnson set the mark with 310 rebounds in 1984-85. Froling is one of just two players in The American averaging a double-double, scoring 13.0 points with 11.4 rebounds per game.

SMU hosts Tulsa Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN3, and will honors its seniors during a pregame ceremony. The Mustangs then play three of the last four regular-season games on the road.
