DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's tennis team dropped its second home match of the season as they fell to San Jose State 5-2 at the SMU Tennis Complex on Monday.

The Mustangs won the first doubles match of the evening as the No. 3 pair of Macie Elliott and Ana Perez-Lopez topped Miyo Kobayashi and Justine Deleval 6-1. San Jose State won the next two doubles matches as Sybille Gauvain and Marine Dans beat Dasha Sharapova and Mary Wright (No. 2) 6-4 then Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey won a tiebreak 7-6 over Vaszilisza Bulgakova and Hristina Dishkova (No. 1) 7-6.

Bulgakova (No. 4) pulled the match even in singles making quick work of Dans 6-0, 6-1 then SJSU took back the lead as Klocker beat Sharapova (No. 2) 6-2, 6-2. SMU tied the match once again with Perez-Lopez (No. 6) winning over Deleval 6-2, 6-2 but then San Jose State won the next two singles matches, Kobayashi defeated Wright 6-3, 6-3 to make the match 3-2 SJSU then Gauvain beat Dishkova 6-1, 7-6 to clinch the match win for the Spartans.

The Mustangs will now look ahead to Saturday as they welcome American Athletic Conference foe Memphis for their first match of a double header at 1:00 p.m. CT followed by a match against UT-Permian Basin at 5:00 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex.
