April 15, 2016 Results: SMU 4, Georgia 12 
WACO, Texas (SMU) - No. 10 SMU's season came to an end Friday in the quarterfinals of the NCEA National Championship, as the Mustangs fell 12-4 to No. 2 Georgia at the Extraco Events Center.
The Mustangs and Bulldogs won two points apiece in equitation over fences. Junior Sylvia de Toledo won the first point of the discipline with a 158-110 rout over Meg O'Mara. de Toledo rounds off the season with 20 total wins, eclipsing her previous season-high of 17. Alex Butterworth shined in her final collegiate event, posting a 153-142 win over Liza Finsness. Butterworth, a senior from Greenville, N.C., caps her collegiate career with 12 wins this season and 36 career wins.
Friday's competition began in the hunt seat arena, where the Bulldogs managed a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs. Freshman Nora Gray picked up SMU's lone point with a 146-141 victory over Addyson Cord. Gray rounds off her first season in a Mustang uniform with 23 victories.
In reining, the Bulldogs captured 3-of-4 points. Keagan Snively earned SMU's only point with little trouble, posting a 142.5-133 victory over Claudia Spreng. Snively, who won both of her points during the NCEA Championship, finishes the season with eight victories.
Georgia clinched the victory with a sweep in horsemanship.
SMU finished the season with a 7-10 record, tallying an upset win over South Carolina in the opening round of the NCEA Championship and three victories over ranked-opponents during the regular season. SMU was ranked for the majority of the season and were as high as No. 6 in the national poll.
