Hullett Joins Women’s Golf Staff

DALLAS (SMU) – Head coach Jeanne Sutherland has announced the addition of LPGA golfer Jamie Hullett to the SMU women's golf staff. A member of the professional ranks starting in 1998, Hullett brings a wealth of playing experience to the Mustang staff.

"We are very excited to add Jamie Hullett to our staff. She adds experience at the highest level of the game, solid character and the ability to help our players manage their games under pressure," Sutherland said.

In Hullett's first season with the LPGA, she tied for 15th at the LPGA Corning Classic, carding a career-low 66 in the event's second round. She went on to earn Rookie of the Year honors on the Futures Tour in 2000, posting a total of nine top-10 finishes.

Hullett's career-best finish in a major came in 2005 when she tied for 13th at the U.S. Women's Open. The following year, she tied for 16th at the CN Canadian Women's Open. Most recently, Hullett played in a pair of LPGA Tour events in 2012, as well as 12 events on the Symetra Tour.

"Coach Sutherland has been an integral part of my career as a collegiate and professional golfer," Hullett said. "She is a legendary coach, mentor and friend. It is an honor to be able to give back to her and assist in any way I can to help make a difference with her student-athletes."

Under Sutherland's guidance at Texas A&M, Hullett earned Second-Team All-America honors in 1997 and was a 1995 Southwest Conference co-medalist. As an amateur, Hullett also won the Texace American Junior Golf Association Championship, as well as the 1996 Broadmoor Invitational and 1997 Southern Amateur.

"I've personally known Jamie since she was 16 years old and she is one of the most competitive, yet big-hearted people I know. That is a great combination to add to any team," Sutherland added.

The Mustangs opened the 2016-17 season at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship placing seventh in the 15-team field. Senior Lindsey McCurdy tied for fifth. They next head to Nashville to take on the field at the Mason Rudolph Championship Sept. 16-18.
