Oct 16

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AAC) – Alicia Froling was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Second Team by the league's head coaches, conference officials announced Monday. Froling earned postseason all-conference honors each of her three seasons on the Hilltop.

A 6-3 post player, Froling was the only player in the conference to average a double-double, scoring a team-high 14.3 points per game with a league-best 10.0 rebounds. As a junior, the Queensland, Australia, native reset her own SMU single-season rebounds record with 339, and ranks 14th in SMU history with 1,213 career points.

Froling scored a season-high 28 points against Louisiana Tech in the first round of the WNIT. She posted a program-record 17 double-doubles during the year, and scored at least 20 points seven times. Froling started all 34 games for the Mustangs, and shot 51.8 percent from the field.

SMU went 19-15 overall and advanced to the round of 16 in the WNIT with a pair of postseason wins. The Mustangs begin the 2017-18 season Nov. 10 in Moody Coliseum against Nicholls. For tickets, visit www.SMUMustangs.com/tickets or call 214-SMU-GAME (214-768-4263).
