Dunne Tied For Second, Mustangs Fifth After Day One of Trinity Forest Invitational

Oct 30

DALLAS (SMU) - Playing at home at one of the finest courses in America, junior Brigitte Dunne shot 1-under over the 36 holes to enter tomorrow in a tie for second place and just two shots off the lead at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Dunne was consistent through the day, finishing the two rounds with 26 pars and six birdies. Her opening round 3-under 69 was the second time this season she's fired a score below 70.

As a team, the Mustangs fared well against stiff competition, coming in at fifth of 13 teams and ahead of five teams ranked in Golfstat's top-50.

Sophomore Kenzie Wright delivered her best performance of the 2017-18 season in the second round, coming in at 1-over and improving on her first round score by five strokes to finish the first day in the top-35 individuals at 6-over. Fellow sophomore Faith Summers also logged a top-25 finish at 6-over.

No. 27 Houston currently leads the field at 10-over as a team. Kansas State's Reid Isaac sits atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under. Only four players remain under par for the tournament, and Dunne is one of them.

The final round is slated for a shotgun start on Tuesday morning at 8:30.
