DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team wrapped up its fall tournament season Sunday picking up seven victories on the final day of the Red and Blue Challenge. Ana Perez-Lopez paced the Mustangs with a win in both doubles and singles.

The Mustangs picked up three wins in doubles play starting with Perez-Lopez and Sarai Monarrez Yesaki defeating No. 48 Koonik/Van Der Ploeg of Wyoming, 6-1. Karina Traxler and Liza Buss earned a 6-4 victory against Stencel/Tkachenko (Wyoming), while Nicole Petchey and Anzhelika Shapovalova earned a 6-3 decision against Ma/Manataweewat of Central Arkansas, 6-3.

In singles play, SMU recorded four victories against Wichita State with Perez-Lopez, Shapovalova, Traxler and Tiffany Hollebeck registering wins. Perez-Lopez defeated Gabriela Porubin, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, while Shapovalova won in straight sets Marta Bellucco, 6-3, 6-4. Traxler notched a 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 victory against Sarvi Saidhujaeva and Hollebeck defeated Ting-Ya Hsu, 6-1, 6-4.

The Mustangs will not compete again until hosting Metroplex Mania in during the spring season. SMU opens at home Jan. 12-15 against BYU, Georgia State and North Texas.
