No. 21 SMU welcomes Sacramento State and Prairie View A&M to the SMU Tennis Complex this weekend. The Mustangs face Sacramento State Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Prairie View Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
 
SCOUTING SACRAMENTO STATE
The Hornets are currently 5-3 overall and are hoping to land back in the win column after losing to Idaho, 5-2, last Sunday. Sacramento State is led by sophomore Mikus Losberg, who plays at the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles for the Hornets. Losberg was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Feb. 1 after helping the Hornets to a road doubleheader split, including a 6-1 victory at Portland State in the league opener.

SMU and Sacramento State are meeting for only the second time. The Mustangs are looking to remain unbeaten in the series. The first meeting occurred in March 2015 with the Mustangs winning the match 5-0 in Dallas, Texas.

SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
The Panthers are currently 0-8 and are looking for their first win of the season in Dallas on Saturday. Prairie View A&M boasts a veteran squad with two seniors, three juniors and two freshman.

The Mustangs and Panters will meet for the first time in five years this weekend. SMU is 9-0 all time against the Panters. The last meeting came in March 2012 with SMU winning 6-0 in Dallas.

MUSTANGS REMAIN IN THE ITA TOP-25
The SMU men's tennis team is ranked No. 21 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) top-25 rankings, released last week (Feb. 8). This is the fourth week the Mustangs have been ranked in the top-25 after receiving votes the first two weeks of the spring season.
 
The last time out, SMU (4-2) earned its fourth win of the season beating Army, 7-0, in West Point, N.Y.
 
STANGS RISIN'
Since breaking into the top-25 rankings in week three (Jan. 25), SMU has risen one place in the rankings each week as they now sit at No. 21. Hunter Johnson leads the team with the best overall singles record (4-1) and broke into singles rankings last week, deemed the No. 44 singles player in the nation. After beating the No. 3 singles player in the nation Jan. 20, Ronald Slobodchikov also broke into the singles rankings last week, holding the No. 49 spot.
 
SCOUTING THE AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
The Mustangs are one of two American Athletic Conference teams in the ITA top-25 rankings or receiving votes this week. SMU sits at No. 21, while Tulane is receiving votes.

TAKING ON RANKED TEAMS
For the fourth straight year in a row the Mustangs are scheduled to play at least six ITA Top-25 ranked teams, with the possibility to face 10 Top-25 ranked opponents. SMU welcomes four Top-25 ranked teams to the SMU Tennis Complex this season (No. 11 Texas, No. 24 TCU, No. 19 Columbia and No. 12 Oklahoma State).
