DALLAS (SMU) – SMU remained undefeated in dual matches this season with a 6-1 victory against Northwestern State Saturday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex.

The Mustangs improved to 4-0 on the season and 4-1 all-time against the Lady Demons.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead after SMU won two matches in doubles play. Sarai Monarrez Yesaki and Ana Perez-Lopez defeated Northwestern State's Polina Ivanova and Emilija Dancetovic, 6-1. SMU's senior duo of Macie Elliott and Mary Wright then won 6-2 against Kateryna Avram and Vladislava Litvinova of Northwestern State.

In singles play, SMU continued its dominance with three wins coming in straight sets. Liza Buss easily defeated Ivanova, 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, while Ana Perez-Lopez gave the Mustangs a 3-0 lead after a 6-3, 6-0 win against the Lady Demons' Polina Mutel. In No. 4 singles, Dasha Sharapova gave the Mustangs the overall team win after winning 6-0, 6-4 against Dancetovic.

Charline Anselmo and Ellie Zogg each recorded wins that went to three sets. Anselmo defeated Litvinova 6-2, 2-6, 10-4, while Zogg defeated Kateryna Avram, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6.

SMU returns to action Saturday evening to host the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Action is slated to begin at 5 p.m. CT.
