BATON ROUGE, La. (SMU) – The SMU women's golf team climbed four spots on the team leaderboard in the second round, going 6-over to finish day one of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic with a 36-hole 19-over 595. The total places the Mustangs in a tie for fifth with Denver. Senior Lindsey McCurdy shot an even par 144 to lead the Mustangs, and sits tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard.

McCurdy shot 1-under in the first round carding a pair of birdies, and went on to shoot +1 on the second 18, adding three more birdies to her event total.

Sophomore Brigitte Dunne fired six birdies over two rounds to place her tied for 29th in the 90-player field at 7-over 151. Tied with Dunne on the leaderboard is freshman Ana Paula Ramirez, who improved nine strokes from the first round with a 1-under 71 on the second 18.

Freshman Faith Summers (+8) is in a five-way tie for 39th, while classmate Kenzie Wright (+9) is tied for 44th.

After 36 holes, Duke leads the field at 5-under 571. The Blue Devil's Leona Maguire sits atop the individual leaderboard at 9-under 135.

The Mustangs posted the fourth-lowest second round score to make the run in the second round, trailing only the top three teams on the leaderboard. Action concludes in Baton Rouge on Sunday with round three action. SMU is paired with N.C. State and Denver and will tee off on holes 4-6 at 8:30 a.m. CT.
