DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team (15-3) picked up its fifth straight win after edging UT Arlington 4-3 on senior day Saturday afternoon at Turpin Stadium.

Senior Dasha Sharapova clinched the victory for the Mustangs in No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3 win against Agustina Serio. Sharapova leads the Mustangs in victories with 21 overall and 16 in the spring.
 
The Mustangs dropped the doubles point but recorded four victories in singles to win the match. In No. 1 singles, Liza Buss defeated Angeles de los Rios, 6-3, 6-3, while Sarai Monarrez Yesaki won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 against Astrid Gehre in No. 5 singles.

Ana Perez-Lopez fell in No. 4 singles to Jessica Birowski, 6-3, 6-3, however, Charline Anselmo defeated Anna Wichert, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) in No. 5 singles. Mary Wright dropped a close game to Carla Cerdan Vives in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

SMU will hit the road for a pair of matchups April 7-8 against No. 15 Baylor and Houston. The Mustangs will face the Lady Bears Friday at 4 p.m. CT, before a conference matchup against the Cougars Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
