HOUSTON (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team opened its 2017 fall campaign advancing three entries to the winner's bracket in singles and doubles play at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Anzhelika Shapovalova picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory against USF's Nicole Dzenga in the quarterfinal of the Flight 2 singles bracket.
Tiffany Hollebeck also moved on to the semifinal of the Flight 6 singles bracket with a 5-2 (30-40) win against Ana Glumac (Houston).
In doubles action,
Ana Perez-Lopez and
Charline Anselmo paired up to earn a 6-2 victory against USF's Janvhi Clark and Alexandria Mjos.
Play resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the first of two rounds of doubles, in addition to a single round of singles. Play concludes on Sunday with the final round of singles.
