Final Results

WOLCOTT, Colo. (SMU) - SMU fired its best round of the tournament on day three of the Golfweek Conference Challenge to finish in a tie for fifth place. In the final round, the Mustangs finished even as a team to move up two spots on the leaderboard into the top-five. Junior Brigitte Dunne, sophomore Faith Summers, and freshman Lauren Chappell all finished under par at 1-under over the final 18 holes.  

"We had a good day today," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "Overall, I'm very pleased with our first and third rounds. We played great position golf in those rounds. We got a little greedy in round two, but this team can go low if they remember the plan and stick to it. They're a really coachable group."

Summers posted with the best overall tournament score, finishing in a tie for 22nd individually at 5-over. Dunne was just a stroke behind, coming in at 26th on the player leaderboard. The Mustangs finished 20-over as a team.  

Over the tournament, the Mustangs showed depth by notching four under-par rounds by four different golfers. Freshman Kennedy Pedigo led the way with the best score in round one, while sophomore Ana Paula Ramirez provided SMU's top score in round two. All five Mustangs competing this week finished the tournament with a combined score within five strokes of each other.

"We're very balanced," Sutherland said. "We have seven players on this team that can all play well. The more push you have in practice, the better prepared people will be when they travel."

Denver, the host of the tournament, captured the team title at 8-over. Arizona's Haley Moore finished the tournament as the top individual at 7-under.

The Mustangs return to action when they travel to the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on October 9.
