The SMU Mustangs (12-5, 2-2 American) host the Temple Owls (7-8, 0-4) at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Mustangs are 11-0 at home this season and have won 33 straight games at Moody Coliseum.

The Mustangs are one win shy of the SMU record of 34 straight home victories from Feb. 2, 1954 through Feb. 26, 1957. The 33-game streak is the second longest active streak nationally (Cincinnati 35). SMU is 36-0 under Tim Jankovich at Moody Coliseum, the second-best home start by a head coach in NCAA history.

The Mustangs are second in The American in scoring defense at 60.8 (8th NCAA). SMU has only allowed more than 67 points in three games this season, all were on the road. The Mustangs lead the AAC in 3-point percentage (.419, 8th NCAA) and are second in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4, 30th NCAA), turnover margin (3.2, 40th NCAA), assists (17.3, 28th NCAA), 3-pointers made (8.8), steals (7.9), turnovers (12.5) and turnovers forced (15.7).

All five starters are averaging double-digit scoring with Shake Milton leading the team at 17.0 (5th AAC). Jarrey Foster averages 14.0 (13th AAC), Ethan Chargois at 12.1 (22nd AAC), Jimmy Whitt at 10.3 and Ben Emelogu 10.2.

Emelogu is leading the AAC in 3-point percentage at 60.6 on 40-66 with McMurray hitting 48.0 percent (12-25), Chargois hitting 44.1 percent (4th AAC), Milton at 40.4 percent (9th AAC) and Foster 33.3 percent. All five starters are also averaging at least 4.6 rebounds with Foster at 6.1 per game (12th AAC), followed by Chargois at 5.4 (18th AAC), Emelogu at 5.1, Whitt at 4.8 and Milton at 4.6 per game. Milton is third in the AAC at 4.5 assists per game with Whitt 7th in the AAC at 3.9 per game and Foster at 2.8 per contest. Whitt is second in the AAC with a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, followed by Milton at 1.9 (5th AAC).

LAST GAME (L, 76-56 at [19/20] Cincinnati on Jan. 7): SMUMustangs.com: HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (SMU) - On the road and against one of the nation's top defenses, SMU struggled to find rhythm offensively on Sunday night, falling to Cincinnati 76-56. While both SMU and Cincinnati shot roughly the same percentage from the floor, the Bearcats used turnovers and offensive rebounds to get past the Mustangs. SMU finished with 18 turnovers that led directly to 26 of Cincinnati's points. On top that, the Bearcats grabbed 13 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points. Those two categories contributed to Cincinnati attempting 10 more shots than SMU. Offensively, SMU was led by juniors Jarrey Foster and Shake Milton. Foster scored a team-high 16 points while collecting a game-high nine rebounds. He was especially solid from the free-throw line, tossing in 7-of-8 attempts. Milton shots 50 percent from the floor on his way to 14 points while also finishing with the most assists for the Mustangs. SMU opened the game confidently, jumping out to a 9-5 lead over the first five minutes. However, a 22-3 Bearcat run allowed Cincinnati to seize control of the game, and SMU never was able to cut into that lead enough against the Bearcats' extremely stout defense.

UP NEXT: SMU has a week before playing at [5/5] Wichita State on January 17. The next home game is vs Tulane on Jan. 20.

THE SERIES VS. TEMPLE (6-4+): SMU and Temple will meet for the 11th time. The Mustangs swept the Owls in 2016-17, winning 79-65 at Moody Coliseum on Jan. 4, 2016, before a 66-50 victory at the Liacouras Center on Feb. 9. During the 2014-15 season, SMU swept the Owls, including a 69-56 win on March 14, 2015 at The American Tournament. Prior to the AAC, they last met when Temple defeated SMU 90-81 in the third place game of the NCAA tournament on March 23, 1956. The first game in the series came Jan. 7, 1938 when Temple won 53-41 at home. (+5-4 officially)

LAST SEASON VS. TEMPLE (W, 66-50 at Liacouras Center on Feb. 9, 2017): PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- SMU coach Tim Jankovich was a little apprehensive how his team would perform three days after earning its first national ranking of the season and three days before a highly anticipated showdown with No. 11 Cincinnati. Semi Ojeleye made sure he had nothing to worry about. Ojeleye scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead No. 25 SMU past Temple 66-50. Sterling Brown added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs, who earlier in the week vaulted into the Top 25. One of the hottest teams in the nation, SMU has won 17 of its last 18. Shizz Alston Jr. scored 13 points to lead the Owls (13-12, 4-8), who saw a modest two-game winning streak snapped. Quinton Rose had 12 points and Daniel Dingle finished with 10. Trailing by as many as 15 points in the second half, Temple pulled within six with just under 8 minutes remaining. But Ojeleye answered with a big 3-pointer to stymie the Owls' rally. Ojeleye also fueled a 16-1 SMU run in the first half with 10 points during the spurt. He started it with a thunderous dunk while being fouled by Mark Williams, who was called for a flagrant on the play. The Mustangs, ranked third nationally in scoring defense, held the Owls without a field goal for more than 9 minutes during that stretch. For the game, Temple shot 30.9 percent from the field while committing 16 turnovers.  (W, 79-65 at Moody Coliseum on Jan. 4, 2017): DALLAS (AP) -- Semi Ojeleye scored 19 points, Shake Milton and Ben Moore added 18 each and SMU beat Temple 79-65. Ojeleye added nine rebounds and Moore and Milton seven each as the Mustangs played only seven players. Jarrey Foster added 13 points and grabbed seven boards with SMU outrebounding Temple 42-25. Moore went over 1,000 career points. The Owls got within nine with 1:53 left on a bucket by Quinton Rose, but missed their final five shots while the Mustangs made five free throws. Obi Enechionyia's 3-pointer gave Temple an 11-6 lead but the Owls made only three of their next 17 shots with SMU -- hitting six straight shots in one stretch -- outscoring them 34-11 to lead 40-22 at halftime. Enechionyia and Shizz Alston Jr. each scored 16 points for Temple with Rose adding 14.
