RESULTS

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (SMU) – In the final race of the regular season, SMU cross country recorded a seventh-place finish at the Arturo Barrios Invitational with junior Hannah Miller finishing in third place.

Taking place at the site of the upcoming NCAA South Central Region meet, the Mustangs faced their final tune up before the postseason at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course. The Mustangs were led to their seventh-place showing thanks to a pair of top-10s from Miller and Svenja Ojstersek.

Miller recorded the fourth fastest 6K in program history, running a 20:14.1, 16 second behind race winner Sinclaire Johnson of Florida. The top three distanced themselves from the rest of the field as Miller finished a quarter of a minute in front of next closest competitor. The New Zealand native added another impressive finish to a resume that includes, winning the season's first two races, coming in fourth at Louisville and winning three conference Cross Country Athlete of Week awards.

Ojstersek finished not far behind Miller in seventh with a time of 20:47.8 . The senior has been the second Mustang across in every race this season including a pair of second-place finishes in the season's first two events.

Florida won the race with 46 points besting second place No. 29 Oklahoma State. Also in front of the Mustangs were Vanderbilt, Texas, Cal Baptist and University of Guelph from Canada. SMU finished ahead of 8th-place host Texas A&M and other notable schools including Oklahoma, Mississippi State, LSU and TCU in the 26-team field.

Anneke Grogan jumped 33 spots in the final 4K of the race to finish in 23rd. The senior recorded a time of 21:29.1. Charlotte-Tara Murphy finished in 104th with a time of 22:52.7

Rounding out the SMU lineup, Alison Esparza (23:32.1) placed in 140th of 232 and senior Robin Montemayor came in six spots behind in 146th with a time of 23:38.7.
