ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU) – SMU lost in four sets at No. 25 UCF Sunday afternoon. Freshman
Hannah Jacobs led the Mustangs with 10 kills, and freshman
Bria' Merchant led the defense with 23 digs in the loss.
The Knights (20-3, 11-0 American Athletic Conference) won the fourth set 25-14 to end the match. UCF hit .278 with 63 kills while holding SMU (8-13, 5-6 The American) to 41 kills and a .106 attack percentage.

Brittany Adams each finished with nine kills for SMU. McKenna Melville scored 28 kills for UCF, and the Knights posted 13 blocks to SMU's nine.
SMU held UCF to a .042 attack percentage in the third set, getting 20 digs and three blocks, to win 25-21. The Mustangs led 21-15, and held off a late push by the Knights for the victory. Merchant put on the libero jersey for the first time this season, tallying eight of SMU's digs.
With the first set tied, 10-10, UCF scored three unanswered for a 13-10 lead. The rally was enough of an advantage to boost the Knights to a 25-17 win in the opening set. Jacobs led the Mustangs five kills, but SMU hit just .125 with 12 kills as a team.
UCF won the second set 25-16 for a 2-0 lead in the match. The Knights posted four blocks, forcing SMU into nine attack errors total. The Mustangs scored only nine kills, while UCF scored 13 kills for the win.
The Mustangs return to Moody Coliseum Friday to host Memphis at 7 p.m.
