DALLAS (SMU) – SMU returns to the links to play in the Maridoe Intercollegiate, hosted by North Texas, at the Maridoe Golf Club Saturday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 8.
 
THE EVENT:  The 54-hole stroke play competition (play five / count four) will be contested Saturday, October 6 through Monday, October 8, 2018.  The official practice round will be conducted on Friday, October 5, 2018. Tee times will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
 • Starting Field:  14 teams / 5 individuals.
 
THE COURSE: Maridoe Golf Club is a 6,335-yard, par 72 course located in Carrollton, Texas, and is the home course for the North Texas men's and women's golf teams. The course underwent a major redesign that was completed in 2017. Maridoe offers Mean Green golfers training and practice facilities, featuring a two-ended driving range which will accommodate varying wind conditions, a 3-acre short game retreat, and indoor facilities that feature four state-of-the-art hitting bays.
 
THE FIELD: There are 14 teams participating in the tournament: SMU, Arkansas State University, Boise State University, Coastal Carolina University, Indiana University, Rice University, Texas A&M University, University of Houston, University of New Mexico, University of North Florida, University of North Texas, University of Tennessee, University of Texas at Arlington, and University of Texas at San Antonio.
 
REPRESENTING SMU: Competing for the Mustangs will be Mac Meissner, Noah Goodwin, Ollie Osborne, Ben Wong and Jackson Markham. Piran Adi will compete as the only individual.

NCAA RANKINGS:
The men's golf team landed as No. 21 in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll released Sept. 28, 2018.
 
Through two tournaments the Mustangs claimed a share of the team title at the Invitational at the Ocean Course in Kiawah, South Carolina and finished runners-up at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
 
Freshman Ollie Osborne, in his debut as a collegiate golfer, took home the 1^st place medal in South Carolina after shooting three-under overall at the shortened tournament. Mac Meissner posted top-five finishes in both events, tying for 5^th in South Carolina and 3^rd in Texas, freshman Ben Wong finished 6^th and tied for 7^th in the two tournaments and Noah Goodwin tied for 7^th at Trinity Forest.
