DALLAS, Texas (SMU)—The No. 2 nationally-ranked Mustangs are poised to compete against No. 8 DSU on Friday morning at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, Delaware. Competition between the conference opponents begins at 8:30 a.m. C.T., and live tweeting can be located at @DSUEquestrian on Twitter.
    The meet was originally a tri-meet challenge between Delaware State, SMU and UT Martin. However, the Skyhawks could not attend the meet due to extreme weather.
    The Mustangs are coming off of a strong 11-6 home win against TCU, and have put together a 5-0 undefeated streak in meets this fall. This Friday's meet will close out competition until the spring, which will resume on Feb. 2 when SMU faces No. 3 Texas A&M in College Station.
    In their last meeting with DSU, the Mustangs defeated the Hornets in Tennessee with an 8-7 win. The series history between the two schools stands at 9-6 in favor of SMU, who debuted the series with a 6-0 victory over DSU in the schools' first meeting during the 2006-07 season.Â
  The Mustangs have earned 13 conference honors, 11 MOPs, and have five undefeated individual riders, as well.
  Up next, SMU will prepare for the spring season which includes meets against Texas A&M (Feb. 2), Oklahoma State (Feb. 16), UC Davis (Feb 22), Auburn (March 2) and TCU (March 9) before traveling to Martin, Tennessee for UEC Championships (March 22-23) and then, to Waco, Texas for the NCEA National Championship (April 16-20).Â

SMU riders have represented the team in Most Outstanding Player selections in every meet this season.The Mustangs have had multiple MOP award winners in all but two meets. Mustangs earned four MOPs against Fresno State, three over TCU, two facing South Carolina and one each in meets versus Georgia and Sweet Briar College.

Vivian Yowan have earned two MOPs a piece in back to back meets, Mauney in Horsemanship and Yowan in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences. Mauney is second in school history for All-Time Horsemanship MOPs, while Yowan rises to third on the SMU leaderboard for All-Time Equitation Over Fences MOPs and third in All-Time MOPs.
