Grossklaus Wins 200 Fly On Final Night Of Mid-Season Action

DALLAS (SMU) –
The SMU women's swimming and diving team wrapped up mid-season action with swimmers closing competition at the Hawkeye Invitational and divers finishing up the IU Invitational.

Freshman Olivia Grossklaus led the Mustangs winning the Championship Final of the 200-yard butterfly with her first-career NCAA B standard time of 1:58.17. Finishing just behind her for runner-up honors was Erin Trahan, also under the provisional standard at 1:58.70.

Keiko Derikoletis was in the event's Consolation Final and finished 12th.

Andrea Podmanikova kept up her success in breaststroke events and placed second in the 200-yard distance, covering the distance in 2:11.68. Elise Johnson was 15th overall.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Gabi Grobler continued to pace the Mustangs clocking in at 2:00.32 for fifth overall, while the team's 100 free leader, Felicity Passon finished 12th in a season-best 51.23.  

El Yellin led Mustang swimmers in the mile finishing 13th, with Lauren Thompson (14th) and Annabelle Corcoran (15th) following in order.

SMU closed the night with a fifth place finish and season best time in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Trahan, Passon, Grobler and Podmanikova registered a time of 3:25.10.

Johanna Holloway finished eighth on platform at the IU Invitational with a five-round 191.10, while Giovanna Hnath was ninth at 163.20.

SMU finished fourth overall in the 12-team field at Iowa with 414.5 points. No. 21 Minnesota won the event with 1,136 points, while Nebraska (931) was second and host Iowa (632.5) was third.
