DALLAS (SMU) – Despite junior
Ana Perez-Lopez's fourth-straight singles win, the SMU women's tennis team (3-4) was unable to overpower Texas A&M in Saturday's 5-2 loss at the SMU Tennis Complex.

Sarai Monarrez Yesaki (6-2), but just missed earning the doubles point when
Tiffany Hollebeck /
Anzhelika Shapovalova lost in a hard-fought tiebreak (7-6 (5)).
Perez-Lopez made quick work of her opponent, Iulia Ivascu, by notching a 6-3, 6-3 victory to even the score at 1-1, but the Mustangs were unable to add points on other courts. Hollebeck fell, 1-6, 3-6, and Monarrez Yesaki followed with a 2-6, 5-7 loss.
Nicole Petchey lost, 3-6, 3-6, at No. 4 to give the Aggies the match-clinching point.
Matches played on, giving a narrow loss to Shapovalova (6-3, 5-7, 0-1 (9)) at No. 1 and a win to Traxler (2-6, 6-0, 7-5) at No. 3.
SMU faces American Conference-rival USF tomorrow at noon at the SMU Tennis Complex before departing for California on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to take on UC Santa Barbara and Loyola Marymount.
