ORLANDO, Fla. - Junior Brigitte Dunne fired her eighth-career sub-70 round to shoot up into the top-10 of the UCF Challenge during round two on Monday.
SMU as a group had a very productive second round, shaving eight strokes off their first round total to climb up two spots on the team leaderboard to eighth in the 16-team field. The Mustangs are now 18-over in the tournament.Â
Dunne's 69 strokes were the second-fewest of any player on Monday as she moved up 27 spots on the individual leaderboard to seventh place. The Camarillo, California, native finished her round with a flourish, birding her final three holes.Â
The Mustangs' second-best performance of the day was delivered by sophomore Ana Paula Ramirez. Ramirez's 1-over round was highlighted by extreme consistency as she parred 17-straight holes.Â
Sophomore Kenzie Wright followed up her team-best 73 in round one with another solid 18 holes on Monday, coming in at 3-over to sit in a tie for 22nd.
Freshman Kennedy Pedigo provided the final team score for SMU with her 4-over round. While Lauren Chappell's 7-over round did not go toward's the Mustangs' total, the freshman bounced back from a difficult first round by knocking off seven strokes from her round one total.Â
Miami sits atop the team leaderboard at 4-over. Miami's Dewi Weber and UCF's Kaeli Jones are both 5-under to lead all individuals.Â
SMU will look to continue to rise up the leaderboard on Tuesday in the third and final round. The Mustangs tee off at 7:45 and are paired with Auburn and Memphis.
