PROVIDENCE, R.I. (The American/SMU) – Two Mustangs were honored by the league office on Wednesday as Junior Brigitte Dunne and sophomore Faith Summers were named to the 2018 Women's Golf All-American Athletic Conference Team.
Dunne is now a three-team all-conference honoree after playing in all 11 tournaments and leading the Mustangs with a 74.03 scoring average. The junior twice fired a round of 67 this season, the best mark of her career and the lowest round by a Mustang this year. Dunne logged three top-five finishes as well as seven top-15 finishes as she was consistently a top-performer for SMU all season. Dunne's best finish of the season was a runner-up performance at SMU's home tournament, the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Summers joins Dunne on the all-conference team by posting SMU's next-best season scoring average at 74.56. The sophomore notched five top-20 finishes in nine tournaments played, including finishing a season-best 12th twice.
"It is significant to have two players earn conference honors this year," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "Both Brigitte and Faith counted 100 percent of their scores when they were in the lineup. Brigitte had 11 rounds of par or better and Faith had six rounds of par or better. Both are very good players and competed well for us this year."
SMU was one of four AAC teams to receive multiple all-conference honorees this season, joining Houston, ECU, and Memphis.
