JOHNS ISLAND, S.C.- Emily Odwin finished as runner up at the Briars Creek Invitational with the Mustangs finishing in 13^th place as a team.
 
The tournament was shortened to 36 because of weather on Monday. The final 18 holes were played on Tuesday with the Mustangs in 11^th place. The team moved into 13^th place after a 10-over final day. Five ranked teams finished ahead of the Mustangs including No. 12 UCF.
 
Odwin recorded her best collegiate finish during the two-day tournament. The senior shot rounds of 69 and 70. She birdied her last hole to move from tied for third into a share of second place, besting her previous low finish of third place. The impressive showing moved her team-leading season scoring mark down to 72.14, currently fifth lowest by a Mustang. Her career scoring average sits at 72.37, second best at SMU behind Mackenzie Lee.
 
Lee finished in a tie for 16^th , her 31^st top 20 finish as a Mustang. Lee moved up 36 spots on the final day with a 69 on her scorecard. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native now has the most counting scores in Mustang history with 127. She is two rounds away from setting the SMU record for career rounds. She already holds many other SMU records including. birdies and rounds of par or better to name a few.
 
Celine Chen carded a 78 to move into a tie for 64^th. She opened play with a 74. Yoonjeong Huh shot an 81 to finish in 84^th and Kirra St-Laurent finished in 86^th.
 
Competing as an individual, Grace Jin posted her best finish of the spring with a 28^th-place showing. She carded a 71 on the final day. After the first hole of the tournament, she played the remainder of the event even par.
 
Next up, the Mustangs return to the course for the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth. The tournament runs March 22-24.
