DALLAS (SMU)—No. 2 SMU Equestrian will travel to College Station, Texas, to face No. 4 Texas A&M at 11 a.m. inside the Thomas G. Hildebrand, DVM '56 Equine Complex. Live scoring can be located at https://bit.ly/2TqzyQv
The Mustangs open the spring undefeated, going 6-0 in the fall with a perfect 2-0 conference record. The Aggies have only two losses, with their most recent win coming over South Dakota State last Saturday.
Sure to be an exciting matchup, the Mustangs are the top-ranked team in the UEC, while A&M is second in the SEC standings. SMU surpassed the Aggies in the rankings on Nov. 6 when the Mustangs summitted to No. 2 to tie the program's team-high, which SMU reached last season.
In the series history between the two schools, SMU is 4-9 against Texas A&M, with the Mustangs' most recent victory coming in the 2015-16 season. However, SMU has earned five wins against ranked opponents and looks to maintain their win streak on the road.
The Mustangs' most dominant performance in points came facing Fresno State, when SMU scored 10 more points than their competitors in the 15-5 win. In final team scoring, the largest margin of victory SMU holds this season is 75.0 over Georgia in SMU's 11-8 (1550.5-1478.5) performance.
Riders for the Red & Blue have earned 16 conference honors, including UEC Rider of the Month recognition, and 20 MOPS, in addition to having six undefeated individual riders.
The rest of SMU's spring slate includes meets against Oklahoma State (Feb. 16), UC Davis (Feb 22), Auburn (March 2) and TCU (March 9) before traveling to Martin, Tennessee for UEC Championships (March 22-23) and then, to Waco, Texas for the NCEA National Championship (April 16-20).
