DALLAS (SMU/The American) – The 2019 Men's and Women's American Athletic Conference Basketball Media Days will be held on Monday, October 14 at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott. Men's Basketball Media Day begins at 7 a.m. CT, followed by Women's Basketball Media Day at 10:30 a.m. CT. Both events begin with remarks from Commissioner Mike Aresco.

SMU men's basketball head coach Tim Jankovich will be joined by junior Isiaha Mike. The SMU women's basketball team will be represented by head coach Travis Mays as well as juniors Ariana Whitfield and Johnasia Cash.

The American's Hali Oughton anchors live coverage from the Philadelphia Airport Marriott along with basketball insiders Andy Katz, Monica McNutt and Mike O'Donnell.

As a sophomore last season, Isiaha Mike started every game for the Mustangs, averaging 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He recorded double-digit points 19 times in 2018, including a career-high 25 points against Wichita State. He earned an AAC Weekly Honor Roll nod after leading the Mustangs with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the win at Georgetown.
 
Whitfield started 25 games for the Mustangs last season, leading the team with 98 assists and averaging 7.1 points and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore. Cash finished second on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.7 per game, in addition to 6.5 points with 27 blocks.  
 
Both teams open the season at Moody Coliseum on Nov. 5. Women's Basketball starts at 11:30 a.m. versus McNeese State for the annual Education Day game. Men's Basketball tips that evening against Jacksonville State at 7 p.m.
