NASSAU, Bahamas (SMU)
-- Kennedy Pedigo and Serena Shah both concluded a strong week of play on Wednesday at the White Sands Invitational, as both golfers finished in a tie for 14th place, finishing the 54-hole event at even-par.

The Mustangs (+18, 882) wrapped up their fall slate at the tournament with an 11th place finish in a field with 10 teams in Golfstat's Top 50. The score of 882 is the team's best this season for a 54-hole tournament.

"It was the best we have played this fall." head coach Jeanne Sutherland said after the tournament. "We've been working really hard on our putting and wedges, and it is showing up in our scoring. We got good play depper in the lineup and our player showed good focus and resilience throughout the week."

Pedigo played her best round of the 2019 season on Wednesday, carding a 2-under 70 after sinking five birdies in round three. Pedigo finished the tournament with 12 birdies, the seventh most in the field and most among the Mustangs. The T14 finish is the Fort Worth native's best of the season, and fourth Top 20 placement of her SMU career.

Serena Shah joined Pedigo in the 14th spot after playing her best week of golf yet. Shah set career bests in scoring and finish at White Sands this week after recording a career-low 71 on Monday, then finishing T14 on Wednesday, beating her previous best finish of T42, set at last season's Trinity Forest Invitational. Shah was the epitome of consistent golf in all three rounds, tallying a team-high 36 pars and team-low nine holes player over for the week.

Faith Summers followed a team-best 72 on Tuesday with another solid round on Wednesday, firing a 73 to finish in a tie for 34th. She finishes her fall with a scoring average of 74.42, which is the lowest seasonal scoring average of the senior's career.

Sophie DiGesualdo (+15, T74) and Megan Daleo (+24, 82) also competed for the Mustangs and sunk a combined seven birdies in Nassau. DiGesualdo played well in round three, shooting 1-under on her back nine after starting on hole 12.

After the round head coach Jeanne Sutherland talked about what a great environment the tournament was played in.

"We had a ton of fun off the course in a beautiful environment here in the Bahamas and that makes it easier for the team to keep a calm state of mind."

The Mustangs now turn their focus to the practice course as the team won't compete again until they host the SMU/DAC Invitational on Feb. 3, 2020 in Dallas.
