SMU hosts Georgia State on Monday. It is the last non-conference home game. The Mustangs open American Athletic Conference play with USF on Jan. 1 before finishing non-conference action at Vanderbilt for the SEC/American Challenge on Jan. 4.
The Mustangs fell 87-85 in double-overtime at Georgia on Friday. It was the first overtime game for the Mustangs since Dec. 8, 2014, an 80-73 home win against UC Santa Barbara.
SMU is 45-12 in regular-season non-conference games under
Tim Jankovich. The Mustangs are 37-4 at Moody Coliseum in those games, 3-4 in neutral-site games and 5-4 in true road games.Â

Feron Hunt sparked an 8-0 run that put SMU ahead 26-21 late in the half. The Bulldogs closed the half with some momentum, however, when senior Jordan Harris slammed in a miss at the buzzer. For SMU, at least Mike warmed up, hitting a pair of 3s. But Georgia hit four triples to creep ahead 45-44 with 11:55 to play. After a scoreless first half, Mike was a one-man wrecking crew for SMU, scoring 16 points in the first 12 minutes of the second half, boosting the Mustangs to a 56-52 lead. SMU retook the lead at 68-67 on a layup by
Kendric Davis with 1:58 to play. Georgia's Hammonds hit one of two free throws with 1:34 remaining to tie the score, setting up the overtime.
THE SERIES VS GEORGIA STATE (2-0): SMU is 2-0, with both previous matchups at home. The first meeting was a 119-92 win on Dec. 17, 1979, the second was a 92-67 victory on Dec. 10, 1983.

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added seven items to the trophy case. SMU won the 2014-15 and 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won 2019-20 Southwestern Showdown and the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic. HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his fourth  season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 37th season as a collegiate coach, and his 15th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 236-161 (.594) [79-40 at SMU (.664), including 54-14 at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. The New Moody single-game attendance record of 7,518 was set in the 60-51 win against then No. 11/11 Cincinnati (Feb. 12, 2017).
DAVID B. MILLER COURT: On Dec. 5, 2018, SMU named the Moody Coliseum court after David B. Miller, alumnus and vice-chair of the Board of Trustees. A two-time SMU graduate, Miller earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Edwin L. Cox School of Business. As an undergraduate, he was a three-year starter and letterman on the varsity basketball team and a member of the 1971-72 Southwest Conference Co-Championship team. Since 2011, Mr. Miller and his wife, Carolyn Lacy Miller, have given $20 million toward the expansion and renovation of Moody Coliseum as well as the construction of the Miller Event Center. He has served on the SMU Board of Trustees since 2008 and also serves as chairman of the Cox Executive Board. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumni Awards from both the University and the Cox School. In 2009, Miller was honored with the Silver Anniversary Mustang Award by the SMU Lettermen's Association. He is also a recipient of the Methodist Health System Foundation's 2017 Folsom Leadership Award. Miller is a co-founder and partner of EnCap Investments L.P., a private equity firm based in Houston and Dallas. He also is the president of the David B. Miller Family Foundation, which he established in 2006. In addition to donating to academic and athletic programs at SMU, the Miller Family Foundation contributes to numerous charitable organizations. Carolyn Miller is vice president of the foundation. The Millers have been generous long-time donors to SMU. Their gifts have created the David B. Miller Endowed Professorship in Cox School of Business, the SMU-in-Taos Campus Center, the Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies in Cox and the EnCap Investments & LCM Group Alternative Asset Management Center, also in Cox, as well as numerous general university and school-specific scholarship funds. They also have provided support for the Crum Basketball Center, the men's basketball program and Circle of Champions in the Department of Athletics. Before establishing EnCap, Mr. Miller served as co-CEO of MAZE Exploration Inc., a Denver-based oil and gas company that he co-founded in 1981. Mr. Miller began his professional career with Republic National Bank of Dallas, ultimately serving as vice president and manager of the bank's wholly-owned subsidiary, Republic Energy Finance Corporation.
