SMU visits UCF on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/ 11 a.m. CT. This is the second matchup in two weeks. UCF won 71-65 in Dallas on Feb. 10. The Mustangs enter this game following a 77-59 home victory over Connecticut. In the win, the Mustangs set season bests for field goal percentage (57.1), field goal defense (30.0) and blocked shots (8).

Jahmal McMurray had 25 points in the win on 10-14 shooting while hitting 3-of-4 threes. He also had four rebounds, 3 assists and two steals. Three other Mustangs scored in double figures as Isiaha Mike and Ethan Chargois both had 14 points and eight rebounds. Mike had three blocked shots and Chargois two of the seaosn-high eight. Feron Hunt added 11 points (5-6 FG) and six rebounds as SMU had a 39-33 rebound advantage. Jimmy Whitt Jr also had six rebounds with eight points and a team-high five assists. Nat Dixon added four assists.

QUICK HITS

• SMU snapped a five-game losing streak with the 77-59 win over Connecticut (Feb. 21). The five-game streak included three straight heartbreaking losses in the final seconds. In the 85-83 loss at Wichita State (Jan. 30), Samajae Haynes-Jones scored the winner with 1.0 second left. At [rv/rv] Cincinnati (Feb. 2), Jahmal McMurray missed a potential game-tying three with 5 seconds remaining in the 73-68 loss. At home against USF (Feb. 7), David Collins made a corner three with 6.2 seconds to go for the 67-66 decision. The game against UCF (Feb. 10) was 71-65 and the game at Temple (Feb. 13) was tied at 65-65 with four minutes left before falling 82-74.

• Isiaha Mike had back to back double-doubles against UCF (18 pts, 10 rebs) and Temple (14 pts, 11 rebs). He had a career-high 25 points at Wichita State, hitting 5-of-7 from three. In the last 7 games, Mike is averaging 18 point, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 steals,  56.4% from the floor and 55.8% 3FG (24-43)

• Four different Mustangs have earned American Athletic Conference honors this season. Jarrey Foster was named preseason All-AAC Second Team, Jahmal McMurray was preseason All-AAC Second Team and on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll twice (Nov. 26, Jan. 28), Jimmy Whitt Jr. was on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll four times (Dec. 3, Dec. 24, Jan. 7, Jan. 14) and Isiaha Mike made the AAC Weekly Honor Roll Dec. 17.

• SMU is 9-5 this season when at least four score in double figures.

• Jahmal McMurray's team-high 25 points in win over UConn was his 9th game with 20+ points and 20th in double figures this season. He is averaging 17.7 points (4th AAC) while hitting 38% on threes (9th AAC). His 3.2 made threes per game are 2nd in the AAC and 30th in the NCAA. He has made 76 3FGs so far this season (T-8th at SMU). The program record is 97 in a season by Robert Nyakundi in 2010-11.

• Jimmy Whitt Jr. is averaging 12.6 points (2nd SMU, T-21st AAC), 6.4 rebounds (2nd SMU, 8th AAC), 4.4 assists (1st SMU, 5th AAC), 3.0 ast/to ratio (3rd AAC, 19th NCAA), 1.4 steals (1st SMU, T-9th AAC)... the only player in AAC rankings for points (30 ranked), rebounds (20 ranked), assists (15 ranked) and steals (15 ranked). He is up to 2nd in the AAC at 37.2 minutes per game, and has played all 40 in 4 of the past 9 games. He is second in The American with a 2.8 assist-to-turnover ratio in conference play (59 assists, 21 turnovers).

• Jimmy Whitt Jr.'s triple-double (12 pts, 10 rebs, 10 asts) vs McNeese on Nov. 29 was the first at SMU since 1999. He is 1 of just 22 players with at least one in NCAA D-I this season.

• Four Mustangs have scored at least 20 points in a game this season (Jahmal McMurry 9x, Jimmy Whitt Jr. 5x, Ethan Chargois 2x, Isiaha Mike 2x).

• SMU is 56-28 in AAC play since start of 2014-15 (2nd-best in the league). The Mustangs are 33-10 at Moody Coliseum.

His 2.0 offensive rebounds per game are 15th in the AAC. He also has 23 blocked shots and 20 steals in 25 games. He had 11 points and 7 rebounds in his first start, at Cincinnati on Feb. 2.

• Jahmal McMurray was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team after setting an event record with 98 points in 4 games, including a career-high 34 points vs Southern Miss and 27 in the 77-76 win vs Wright State.

• SMU had 5 wins over AP top 15 teams in the previous two seasons (T-14th in NCAA).

• SMU has won two American Athletic Conference Championships (2015 & 2017).

• SMU has had three players selected in the last two NBA Drafts (T-7th), and is one of only 14 programs with a draft pick each of the past two years.

LAST GAME (W, 77-59 vs Connecticut on Feb. 21) DALLAS (AP) -- Jahmal McMurray drove for three straight layups in a 12-2 run late in the first half, and SMU went on to beat UConn 77-59 on Thursday night. The game was tied at 24 before the Mustangs regained the lead with 3-pointers by Nat Dixon and Isiaha Mike before McMurray began slicing through the UConn defense to build SMU's lead to 36-26 with 2:24 remaining. McMurray led the Mustangs (13-12, 5-8 American Athletic Conference) with a game-high 25 points, 15 in the second half. Ethan Chargois and Mike scored 14 each, and Feron Hunt had 11. SMU ended a five-game losing streak. The Huskies (13-13, 4-9) have lost four straight. Tyler Polley led UConn with 19 points. Christian Vital was the only other player in double figures with 14. SMU scored the game's first seven points and increased the lead to nine at 14-5. The Huskies battled back to take their first lead at 19-18 on a 3-pointer by Polley with 8:31 left in the first half. UConn was in the game earlier in the half because the visitors made 5 of their first 10 3-point attempts, including two each by Polley and Vital. The visitors missed the final three from 3-point range. A bigger problem for UConn was the inside game. The Huskies were 4-for-21 on 2-point attempts (19 percent), and SMU outrebounded them 21-15 in the first half. The Mustangs extended their lead to as many as 19 points, on a 3-pointer by Changois for a 64-45 advantage.

THE SERIES VS. UCF (11-8+): SMU split the series in 2017-18 against  UCF beating the Knights, 56-51, in Moody Coliseum on Dec. 27 in the first meeting. SMU swept the 2016-17 season series, with SMU winning 65-60 on Jan. 25, 2017, before topping the Knights 70-59 in the American Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal game on March 11, 2017. The series started in 2005 when the two schools were members of Conference USA. The Mustangs are 2-4+ against UCF in Orlando. (+9-8 officially all-time, 2-5 away; wins in 2013-14 vacated)

LAST TIME VS. UCF: (L, 71-65 vs UCF on Feb. 10) DALLAS (AP) -- Aubrey Dawkins had a season-high 26 points as Central Florida defeated SMU 71-65 on Sunday. Dawkins hit 9 of 12 shots, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Collin Smith had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Central Florida (17-5, 7-3 American Athletic Conference). Tacko Fall added 10 points. BJ Taylor had seven assists for the visitors. Jimmy Whitt Jr. scored a career-high 23 points for the Mustangs (12-11, 4-7), whose losing streak stretched to four games. Isiaha Mike added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ethan Chargois had 11 points.

LUKE WILFONG (6-1, 170, G, SO.): 2018-19: 2017-18: Played in 12 games... Scored a 3-pointer against USF.

JAHMAR YOUNG JR. (6-9, 205, F, Fr.): 2018-19: Played in 17 games … Prep: Power forward at DeSoto High School... played AAU for Urban DFW Elite... The three-star signee was rated as high as No. 14 in Texas.

GRANT YOUNGKIN (6-3, 190, G, JR.): 2018-19: Sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules (from Rice).

WINNING IN WASHINGTON, D.C.: During the trip to Washington, D.C. Dec. 14-16 for the game at Georgetown, the Mustangs stayed to visit some of the sights. SMU won 81-73 versus Georgetown on Dec. 15 at Capital One Arena. That evening, the team did a bus tour of the National Mall, stopping at the Lincoln Memorial. On Dec. 16, the Mustangs toured the U.S. Capitol with Congressman Pete Sessions, and then went to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

SHORTHANDED: SMU has played most of the season with 9 scholarship student-athletes available (8 at Wichita State and Cincinnati). The Mustangs had 10 available for the games Jarrey Foster played this season. SMU played the last 11 games of 2017-18 with seven or less scholarship student-athletes available. Shake Milton missed the final 11 games (right hand), Jarrey Foster missed the last 14 games (left knee) and Everett Ray was out for the final 16 contests (right ankle, left foot). Ethan Chargois (right ankle) missed the game versus [6/6] Cincinnati on Feb. 11. With Milton, Foster and Chargois in the starting lineup, SMU went 13-5 including wins versus [2/4] Arizona, [14/18] USC, [-/rv] Boise State and at [7/4] Wichita State. TRIPLE-DOUBLES: Jimmy Whitt Jr. had his first career triple-double in the win against McNeese on Nov. 29. Whitt had 12 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists with 3 steals. It was the fifth triple-double in program history, the third person to accomplish the feat at SMU and the first since 1999. He is one of 23 players in NCAA Division I with a triple-double this season (through Jan. 27). He has five doubledoubles this season.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his third season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 36th season as a collegiate coach, and his 14th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 226-154 (.595) [69-33 at SMU (.676), including 48-11 at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic (12/16-12/23). In 2014-15, SMU won American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. In 2013-14, SMU was the runner-up in the NIT.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE MUSTANGS (Current Roster): In the past few seasons, several Mustangs have played in international events or gone on international tours. Additionally, 2-time AAC Player of the Year and All-American Nic Moore helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea.

NBA - DRAFT: Shake Milton was selected in the second round (54th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was picked by the Dallas Mavericks, then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he signed a two-way contract. SMU's Semi Ojeleye and Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This was the fourth time the Mustangs had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds. Ben Moore signed as a free agent with the Indiana Pacers and is now on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs.

NON-CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON UNDER JANKOVICH: SMU is 37-10 in regular-season non-conference games under Jankovich. SMU was 10-3 in non-conference action in 2016-17 after going 12-0 in non-conference play in 2015-16, including winning the Las Vegas Classic.

2017-18 IN REVIEW: The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. Shake Milton was named All-AAC Second Team, NABC All-District Second Team and USBWA All-District. Milton was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft and is on a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. During the season, Milton was on the Naismith Trophy, Wooden Award, Lute Olson and Bob Cousy watch lists. Ethan Chargois was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team. Ben Emelogu led The American in 3-point percentage (.470). The Mustangs eventually finished 17-16 after leading scorers Jarrey Foster and Shake Milton missed February and March due to injuries.
