PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) – SMU guard Jahmal McMurray was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Second Team, the league announced Monday.

The senior is averaging a team-best 17.8 points (5th AAC) while shooting 38.8 percent from 3-point range (8th AAC) and making 3.1 threes per game (2nd AAC, 39th NCAA). McMurray is also averaging 2.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds with a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio and 21 total steals on the season.

He has etched his name in the SMU record book with 93 three-pointers on the season, which is second at SMU (Robert Nyakundi 97 in 2010-11). His 535 points this year rank 19th at SMU, and his 83.6 percent free-throw shooting ties for 20th in a season on the Hilltop.

McMurray is in the top ten at SMU for career free-throw percentage (.835, 5th), career scoring average (16.5, 8th) and three-pointers made (155, 9th).

The Mustangs closed the regular season with a 77-71 win at USF on Sunday. SMU faces Tulsa in the first round of the Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Championship at the FedExForum in Memphis on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT.
