2019-20 SMU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AAC) – The SMU women's basketball team starts the 2020 American Athletic Conference Schedule against Connecticut in Moody Coliseum Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. on ESPN3/SNY. The contest is the first of eight home conference games and 16 overall, ending March 2 at home for Senior Day against Memphis.
Memphis is one of five home-and-home opponents during the conference slate. The Mustangs also play multiple games against ECU, Tulsa, Wichita State and Houston. SMU hosts Tulane and Cincinnati for single games, with road trips to Temple, UCF and USF.
The non-conference schedule features 10 home games, starting Nov. 5.The 11:30 a.m. contest for SMU is the annual Education Day game. The Tuesday opener is the first of five straight home games, including contests against in-state rivals Rice and TCU. SMU then travels to Pacific University in Stockton, Calif., for a Thanksgiving Classic. The tournament also includes Indiana State and California State Northridge.

The Mustangs return four starters and seven letterwinners after playing the 2018-19 season with one of the youngest teams in the country, which featured seven freshmen. Juniors
Ariana Whitfield and
Johnasia Cash return as two-year starters. Whitfield led the team in assists last season after earning conference all-freshman team accolades in her first season on the Hilltop. Cash was second on the team in rebounding last season, averaging 6.7 with 6.5 points in just under 20 minutes per game. Arkansas Player of the Year and state champion
