DENTON, Texas (SMU) – SMU Cross Country is set to compete in their second meet of the season as they travel to North Texas for the Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Tess Misgen led the way for the Mustangs with a 20th place finish at the Bear Twilight Invite last Friday. The junior completed the 4K in a time of 14:30.1 Finishing right behind was freshman
Maddie Hulcy. In her first race as a Mustang, Hulcy impressed with a 21st-place showing and a time of 14:32.0. Senior
Charlotte Tara Murphy finished the race in 15:17.6 and in a 35th place.

Rounding out the trio of freshman the Mustangs debuted in their first race of the season,
Lior Kremer and
Eve Hoeltgen finished in 39th and 40th respectively.

Last season at the Ken Garland, SMU registered a dominating first-place finish. The Mustangs scored four points over the best possible score with finishes of first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh.
Hannah Miller led the way with a 5K time of 16:36.3, followed by
Svenja Ojstersek who clocked in at 18:00.6. Miller earned her second consecutive victory and AAC Athlete Of The Week honors with her showing.
Anneke Grogan came in fourth followed by current Mustang
Charlotte Tara Murphy who came in fifth with a time of 18:00.4.

After the race in Denton, the Mustangs compete for the third consecutive week as they travel to College Station for the A&M Invitational on September 13 at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.
