Mustangs Fall To No. 19 Texas A&M

DALLAS (SMU) –
The Mustangs fell to No. 19 Texas A&M, 176-115, at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center on Thursday evening.

Felicia Anderson picked up the lone victory for the Mustangs, winning the 200 back in a time of 2:00.74. Anderson was also second in the 100, coming in at 55.03. Anderson is the Mustangs' top performer in the 100 and has achieved the NCAA B standard in the event.

Gabi Grobler joined Anderson in the top three of the 200 back, finishing third and covering the distance in 2:03.79.

Top freestyle performers included Frederica Kizek (10:17.55), who finished second in the 1,000 free and Olivia Grossklaus (5:02.60, 500 free) and Alex Stevens (24.26, 50 free) who both finished third in their respective events.

Grossklaus and Erin Trahan led SMU in butterfly races, with Grossklaus (2:01.35) finishing second in the 200, and Trahan coming in third in both distances. The senior finished the 100 in a time of 55.49 and the 200 in 2:03.04.

To close the night, Trahan, Stevens, Anderson and Sam Smith earned runner-up honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The group combined for a time of 1:34.67.

In diving action, Johanna Holloway (295.58) and Nicole Stambo (288.15) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, on 3 meter. The duo posted NCAA Zone qualifying scores, the first for Stambo in the event this season. She now has qualifying marks on both 1 and 3 meter, while Holloway had previously reached the standard on both 3 meter and platform.

Stambo (261.90) was the Mustangs' highest finisher on 1 meter, placing fifth.

SMU is back in action Saturday when they travel to Houston to take on Rice. The event is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at Lamar High School. Live timing and video will not be available. Updates can be found on the Mustangs' Twitter account (SMUSwimmingW).
