SMU visits Dayton on Saturday. This is the first road game for the Mustangs this season after starting 3-0 at Moody Coliseum. The matchup at UD Arena is the first in a home-and-home series with the Flyers returning to Dallas next season.
The Mustangs moved to 3-0 on the season with a 102-75 win versus Houston Baptist on Wednesday. SMU had five score in double figures for the second straight game.

Kendric Davis had a career-high 33 points to set the SMU record in an opener that was previously 30 points by Ira Terrell at Saint Louis on 11-29-1975. It was also the most points in an opener for SMU since a 110-69 win against Hardin-Simmons to open 1999-2000 and the largest victory since an 85-50 win against Sam Houston State to start the 2015-16 campaign.
PRESEASON ALL-AAC:
Kendric Davis (first team) and
Tyson Jolly (second team) were selected to preseason All-AAC teams. The Mustangs were picked to finish third in the conference race behind Houston and Memphis. Davis was an All-AAC Third-Team honoree last season after leading the league with 6.7 assists (10th NCAA) and a 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (19th NCAA). He was second for SMU in scoring at 14.2 points (8th AAC) while also averaging 4.1 rebounds. He shot 44.9% overall (12th AAC) and 85.4% on free throws (2nd AAC). Jolly was also All-AAC Third-Team last season after leading SMU in scoring at 14.5 points (7th AAC). He was third for SMU at 6.2 rebounds (13th AAC) and second with 2.3 assists per game. He shot 38.2% from three (7th AAC) and 78.0% at the free-throw line (14th AAC).Â
2019-20 SMU IN THE AAC: The Mustangs finished the shortened 2019-20 season with a 19-11 overall record. SMU went 15-2 at Moody Coliseum, winning eight of nine home games in league play. Last season, SMU led the American Athletic Conference in scoring (72.9), field goal percentage (45.1%), free-throw percentage (76.2%, 25th NCAA), assists (15.6, 19th NCAA) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2). The Mustangs had four of the top 25 scorers in the AAC;

Kendric Davis and
Ethan Chargois scored 20 points apiece as SMU romped past Houston Baptist 102-75 on Wednesday night. Chargois also had nine rebounds.
Feron Hunt had 18 points and 11 rebounds for SMU (3-0).
Darius McNeill added 13 points. Davis's 13 assist tied a career-high for the Mustang guard and tied the American Athletic Conference record for assists in a game. It was the first time this season SMU scored at least 100 points. Ty Dalton had 12 points for the Huskies (0-3). Myles Pierre added 11 points. Jade Tse had 11 points.Â
THE SERIES VS. DAYTON (2-1): The Mustangs are 2-1 in the series, winning a neutral-site matchup, 67-59, in Lexington, Kentucky on Dec. 22, 1956, and winning the only matchup at Moody Coliseum, 53-48, on Nov. 18, 2006. Dayton won its only home game in the series, 82-57, in the most recent meeting on Nov. 24, 2007.
LAST MEETING VS. DAYTON (at UD on Nov. 24, 2007 - L, 82-57): DAYTON, Ohio - Brian Roberts scored 24 points to lead Dayton to an 82-57 win over SMU. Up 40-28 at halftime, Roberts made a 3-pointer to open the second half and start a 23-18 run that gave the Flyers (3-1) a 63-46 lead with 9:18 left. Roberts was 10 of 12 from the floor, including three 3 pointers. Chris Wright added 14 for Dayton, which has won two in a row. Mike Walker scored 16 points and Alex Malone added 13 for SMU (0-4), which shot just 40 percent (21 of 52) for the game. Dayton shot 53 percent (30 of 56).Â
SMU VS. VANDERBILT - CANCELED: The SMU-Vanderbilt men's basketball game scheduled for December 8 at Moody Coliseum has been canceled due to a COVID-19 case within the Vanderbilt program, and the ensuing pause in basketball activities. HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his fifth season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 38th season as a collegiate coach, and his 16th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 250-170 (.595) [93-49 at SMU (.655), including 66-15 (.815) at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added seven items to the trophy case. SMU won the 2014-15 and 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won 2019-20 Southwestern Showdown and the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic. In 2013-14, SMU was the runner-up in the NIT.
AMERICAN/SEC ALLIANCE: The American entered into a scheduling alliance with the SEC prior to the 2019-20 season that featured four teams from each conference playing home-and-home series.
