NEW ORLEANS – SMU's women's golf team takes on the prestigious Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, hosted by Tulane at English Turn Golf & Country Club, February 16-18.

"We are looking forward to playing the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "It's a great event on a fabulous golf course. The team has practiced well all week in tough conditions, so we will be ready to compete on Sunday."

The strong field features three top-25 teams, No. 10 Florida, No. 13 Michigan State and No. 23 Houston. Host school Tulane, Colorado State, Iowa, Miami (Florida), North Texas, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tulsa and UAB join the Mustangs to complete the 13-team field for the three-day, 54-hole event.

Faith Summers leads the SMU lineup onto the par 73 / 6,336-yard course that hosted New Orleans' PGA Tour event 17 times. Summers enters the tournament after a fifth-place finish at the SMU/DAC Challenge (Feb. 3), where she led the event with seven birdies.

Kennedy Pedigo heads to the Crescent City looking for her third straight top-15 finish, tying for 11th at the SMU/DAC Challenge and tying for 14th at the White Sands Invitational (Oct. 28-30) that closed out the fall.

A pair of Mustangs enter the event coming off the best finishes of their SMU careers, as Megan Daleo posted her best finish wearing red and blue, coming in 17th at Dallas Athletic Club. Serena Shah notched the two best finishes of her career in her last two events, highlighted by a tie for 14th at the White Sands Invitational.

Sophie DiGesualdo brings a team-leading 32 birdies into the SMU lineup. Lauren Chappell competes as an individual for the second-straight tournament.

SMU tees off with Miami and North Texas at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with live scoring for the event available at Golfstat.com.
