HOUSTON (SMU) – Five swimmers represented the Mustangs in Championship Finals on night two of the American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
Colin Feehery led the way with a fourth place finish and an NCAA B Cut in the 200-yard individual medley.
The freshman posted a season-best 1:46.28 to lead a pair of Mustangs in the event final. The time makes him the fifth fastest performer in SMU history,
Brayden Rudd was eighth in the race, covering the distance in 1:49.50.
Matan Segal (1:50.45),
Wyatt Welch (1:50.66) and
Jackson Skigen (1:50.99) scored out of the Consolation Final, finishing 11th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
Four total Mustangs secured spots in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle, with
Riley Hill and
Daniel Forndal advancing to the A Final. Hill had a personal-best showing with a 20.16 for fifth place, just ahead of Forndal, who also had a career outing of 20.22 for sixth.
Scoring out of the Consolation Final were
Ralph Koo (10th) and
Charlie Kaye (15th).
The four later teamed up to close the night with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and were narrowly out-touched at 1:19.59.
SMU also picked up points out of the 500-yard freestyle Championship Final from
Petar Bozhilov, who registered a time of 4:25.75 for seventh place.
Wyatt Cronk placed 11th overall in a career-best 4:27.39.
Friday prelims begin at 10 a.m. CT followed by diving at 12:30 p.m. Finals follow at 6 p.m. The schedule features the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 400-yard medley relay and men's 3 meter.
