SMU visits Temple for a matinee matchup on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET/11am CT  The Mustangs have won four of their last five games, including a 68-52 triumph against Temple in Dallas on Jan. 18.

In last Saturday's 82-67 win against Tulane, Kendric Davis nearly had a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and 9 rebounds. His career-high 13 assists tied the American Athletic Conference record and set the SMU standard in an AAC game. Davis was one of five Mustangs in double figures with Tyson Jolly leading the way at 20 points. CJ White tied a career high of 15 points (5-7 3FGs), Isiaha Mike had 14 points and Feron Hunt added 11 points with 7 rebounds. 

The Mustangs are 4-4 on the road this season, including a road league win 74-70 at Memphis on Jan. 25.

SMU enters the game leading the conference in field goal percentage (45.9%), free-throw percentage (76.3, 30th NCAA), assists (16.6, 13th NCAA), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3, 31st NCAA) and threes made (8.4). The Mustangs have three of the top 10 scorers in the AAC; Kendric Davis (15.2, 4th), Tyson Jolly (14.9, 7th) and Isiaha Mike (14.3, 8th). Davis is also leading the league in assists (7.2, 7th NCAA) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.9, 13th NCAA). Davis is second in the league in free-throw percentage at 87.5% with Mike third at 84.3%. SMU is second in the AAC in rebound margin (6.7, 26th NCAA) with three players in the top 10 (Hunt 7.1, 7th; Mike 6.7, 8th; Jolly 6.5, 10th). 

QUICK HITS:
• The Mustangs have had four different players earn nine spots on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll; Tyson Jolly (Nov. 11, Jan. 20), Isiaha Mike (Nov. 18, Dec. 23), Feron Hunt (Nov. 25, Dec. 30), Kendric Davis (Jan. 6, Jan. 13, Jan. 27).

• SMU does not have any seniors this season. 

• The Mustangs have rallied from a double-digit deficit to win three times in 2020. The first was from 15 down for a 92-81 overtime win at Vanderbilt on Jan. 4, then from 11 down in a 68-52 victory against Temple on Jan. 18 and finally from 12 for the 74-70 triumph at [20/20] Memphis on Jan. 25. The deficits at Vanderbilt and Memphis were both in the last 8 minutes of the second half. SMU closed regulation 20-5 at Vanderbilt and 35-9 including overtime. The Mustangs closed regulation 15-0 at Memphis. SMU has won after trailing by double digits eight times under Head Coach Tim Jankovich (17 occasions in his time on staff at SMU.)

• The Mustangs have six players that have scored at least 15 points in a game this season: Tyson Jolly (14x), Kendric Davis (11x), Feron Hunt (7x), Isiaha Mike (6x), Ethan Chargois (2x) and CJ White (2x). Jolly (5), Mike (5), Davis (4) and Hunt (1) have had 20-point games.  

• SMU has held 10 of 21 opponents below 40% shooting. SMU is 51-3 under Tim Jankovich, and 10-0 this season, when holding opponents at or below 40%. SMU's field goal percentage defense is 41.0. Only five opponents have hit 45% or better. 

• SMU has outrebounded 16 of 21 opponents. Under Tim Jankovich, SMU is 67-14 when having an advantage on the glass. The rebound margin of +6.7 is 2nd in the AAC and 26th nationally. SMU has been +10 or better 11 times. SMU is averaging 11.9 offensive rebounds (4th AAC) and has an offensive rebound percentage of 35.0 (2nd AAC). 

• SMU is leading the league and ranks 30th nationally at 76.3% on free throws. Kendric Davis is second in the AAC at 87.5 and Isiaha Mike is third in the AAC at 84.3% .

• The Mustangs have had at least four score in double figures 13 times this season (11-2), including 12 of the last 16 games (Kendric Davis has played the past 16 games). SMU has had five in double figures three times (3-0). Under Tim Jankovich, SMU is 61-12 when at least four score 10+.

.• Kendric Davis is averaging 15.4 points (4th AAC) and an AAC-best 7.2 assists (7th NCAA) with 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals. He is 70-80 on FTs (87.5%, 2nd AAC, 26th NCAA). Davis has 5 or more assists in 15 games. He had a streak of 14 straight games with 5+ assists (11/27/19 to 1/25/20), which is the longest streak at SMU since Butch Moore's program-record streak of 16 games from 3/14/85 to 1/8/86. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.9 leads the AAC and is 13th nationally.

• Feron Hunt is averaging 11.9 points (21st AAC), 7.1 rebounds (7th AAC) and 1.0 blocks (9th AAC) while shooting 56.4% (2nd AAC). He is 12th in the league with 2.2 offensive rebounds per game. He has 9 or more rebounds 7 times this season and has 4 double-doubles. As a freshman, he averaged 7.6 points and 6.2 rebounds (T-1st SMU, 9th AAC). He also had 28 blocked shots and 25 steals in 32 games. He shot 55.4% FG as a freshman last season (4th AAC).

• Tyson Jolly is averaging 14.9 points (7th AAC) and 6.5 rebounds (10th AAC) while shooting 47.8% overall (15th AAC) and 40.9% from three (5th AAC). He has 15+ points in 14 of 21 games and 20+ on five occasions. 

• Isiaha Mike is averaging 14.3 points (8th AAC) and 6.7 rebounds (8th AAC) after averaging 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds last season. He has also made a jump in FG% (50.5, 11th AAC, from 45.3), 3FG% (41.4, 4th AAC, from 36.8) and FT% (84.3, 3rd AAC, from 76.3). He has scored in double figures in 17 of 21 games this season. He is also averaging 1.3 steals.

.• Five Mustangs have recorded double-doubles this season. Feron Hunt (4), Isiaha Mike (4), Tyson Jolly (3), Kendric Davis (2) and Ethan Chargois. This is the first time SMU has had at least five guys record a double-double since 2016-17. The SMU record is 7 different players in 1978-79. Six players accomplished it in 1977-78 and 1997-98. (Houston is the only other AAC team that has five different players with double-doubles this season.)

• SMU is 87-43 under Tim Jankovich and 60-14 at Moody Coliseum

• SMU is 47-12 in regular-season non-conference games under Tim Jankovich. The Mustangs are 38-4 at Moody Coliseum in those games, 3-4 in neutral-site games and 6-4 in true road games. 

• SMU is 63-36 in AAC play since start of 2014-15 (3rd-highest win total in the league). The Mustangs are 38-12 at Moody Coliseum.

• SMU won the Southwestern Showdown presented by Engage Telehealth. SMU went 4-0, winning at UNLV (72-68) and at home versus Jackson State (80-63), Hartford (90-58) and Abilene Christian (70-51). Kendric Davis was selected MVP with Tyson Jolly & Feron Hunt named all-tournament.

• SMU was among those receiving votes in the AP Poll on Jan. 27. That was the second time this season (Dec. 2). The Mustangs have been in the AP Poll in six of the past seven seasons. 

• The 74-70 win at [20/20] Memphis on Jan. 25 was the 11th win under Tim Jankovich over a team ranked or receiving votes, and the second this season (won at [rv/rv] Evansville). It was the sixth over ranked team, the first since the 83-78 victory at [7/4] Wichita State on Jan. 17, 2018.

• SMU has 6 wins against AP Top 25 teams under Tim Jankovich (16 games). That is second at SMU. Doc Hayes had 13 from 1947-67.

•  SMU has won two American Athletic Conference Championships (2015 & 2017).

•  SMU has had three players selected in the NBA Draft since 2017.Sterling Brown and Semi Ojeleye in 2017 and Shake Milton in 2018. Jahmal McMurray was selected in the 2019 NBA G-League Draft. Ben Moore is playing for the Fort Wayne G-League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers.

• The Mustangs have had 12 All-American Athletic Conference honorees in the six seasons ot the league, including four first-team selections. SMU is one of three programs to have someone named to the All-American Athletic Conference first or second team in each year of the league (Cincinnati and Memphis).

FINDING THE RANGE: Isiaha Mike is fourth in The American in 3-point percentage (41.4%, 48-116) and third in free-throw percentage (84.3%, 43-51). His 2.3 threes made per game are second in the AAC. He is now 39.5% from three in his time at SMU, which ties for 12th in program history. 

STEPPING UP TO THE MIKE: Isiaha Mike has hit two of the biggest shots for the Mustangs this season (both on assists from Kendric Davis). Mike hit the tying three with 19 second left at Vanderbilt as SMU rallied from 15 down to eventually win 92-81 in overtime. At [20/20] Memphis, Mike scored 8 of the final 15 points including the three that gave the Mustangs the lead with 1:48 to play. The Mustangs closed on a 15-0 run in the 74-70 road win.

MOSTLY FREE: SMU is hitting 76.3% at the free-throw line this season (1st AAC, 30th NCAA). Two rank in the top three of the league: Kendric Davis (87.5%, 2nd), Isiaha Mike (84.3%, 3rd), .

HUNTING FOR REBOUNDS: Feron Hunt is averaging 7.1 rebounds (7th AAC) with 2.2 offensive rebounds (12th AAC). He had a season-high 13 rebounds vs New Orleans. He has 7 or more rebounds in 31 career games, including 12 of 21 this season (10+ 5 times this season). Hunt shared the team lead in rebounding at 6.4 per game as a freshman last season. He was just the sixth Mustang to lead the team as a freshman.

LAST GAME (W, 82-67 vs Tulane on Feb. 1): DALLAS (AP) -- Tyson Jolly scored 20 points and sophomore Kendric Davis added a double-double to power SMU to an 82-67 victory over Tulane on Saturday. Jolly made 7 of 14 shots from the floor, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range, for the Mustangs (16-5, 6-3 American Athletic Conference). Davis finished with 18 points and 13 assists for the second double-double of his career. CJ White had 15 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Isiaha Mike added 14 points, while reserve Feron Hunt pitched in with 11 points and seven boards. Nic Thomas hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 to lead the Green Wave (10-11, 2-7). K.J. Lawson had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Teshaun Hightower scored 12 with four assists. Christion Thompson scored 11 for Tulane, which led 31-28 at halftime before being outscored 54-36 after intermission. SMU shot 51% from the floor, while Tulane shot 42% overall. Both teams made 12 of 28 from beyond the arc (43%). The two teams combined to take just 17 foul shots.

THE SERIES VS. CONNECTICUT (6-6+): The Mustangs have lost a single meeting to Temple each of the past two season after sweeing the Owls in 2016-17. During the 2014-15 season, SMU swept three matchups with the Owls, including a 69-56 win on March 14, 2015 at The American Tournament. Prior to the AAC, they last met when Temple defeated SMU 90-81 in the third place game of the NCAA tournament on March 23, 1956. The first game in the series came Jan. 7, 1938 when Temple won 53-41 at home. (+5-6 officially)

LAST MEETING VS TEMPLE (L, 74-82 at Temple on Feb. 13, 2019): PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Shizz Alston Jr. had 28 points as Temple topped SMU 82-74 on Wednesday night. Pierre-Louis had 16 points and nine rebounds for Temple (18-7, 8-4 American Athletic Conference). Quinton Rose added 15 points. J.P. Moorman II had nine rebounds and seven assists for the hosts. Jahmal McMurray had 22 points for the Mustangs (12-12, 4-8), who have now lost five games in a row. Ethan Chargois added 17 points and eight rebounds. Isiaha Mike had 14 points and 11 rebounds. 

UP NEXT: The Mustangs play two straight home games, hosting Connecticut on Wednesday at 6 p.m. (RED OUT) and Houston on Feb. 15 at 5 p.m.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his fourth  season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 37th season as a collegiate coach, and his 15th as a head coach. As a head 6oach, he is 244-164 (.598) [87-43 at SMU (.669), including 60-14 (.811) at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. AMERICAN/SEC ALLIANCE: New for 2019-20, The American has entered into a scheduling alliance with the SEC that features four teams from each conference playing home-and-home series over the course of each of the next two seasons. The matchups in the American/SEC Alliance for 2019-20 are Georgia at Memphis (UGA won 65-62), Ole Miss at Wichita State (WSU won 74-54), Houston at South Carolina (UH won 76-56) and SMU at Vanderbilt (SMU won 92-81 in OT). 

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WINS (2014-15 through Jan. 29): SMU has the third-highest win total in league play (63-36) since the start of the 2014-15 season. The Mustangs have won the AAC regular season and tournament titles in 2014-15 and 2016-17. SMU went 17-1 in 2016-17 and 15-3 in 2014-15. SMU finished second at 13-5 in 2015-16, one game behind Temple.


CALL IT A COMEBACK: SMU rallied from 15 points down (72-57 at 6:28) to win 92-81 in overtime at Vanderbilt on January 4. That ties for the seventh largest comeback in program history and the ties for the largest under Head Coach Tim Jankovich (80-75 win vs Tulane 2/15/17). SMU closed regulation at Vanderbilt on a 20-5 run to tie the game at 77-all. The Mustangs then had a 15-4 advantage in overtime. SMU still trailed by 10 with less than five minutes left, getting the deficit to 8 points on two Emmanuel Bandoumel free throws with 4:04 remaining. That makes it one of 30 NCAA D-I comebacks from 10 or more in the final 5 minutes. The Mustangs still trailed by 6 in the final minute when Tyson Jolly hit a 3 with 28 seconds left to cut it to 77-74. Kendric Davis stole the inbounds pass and tried to score on a layup. Davis missed and then got the offensive rebounds, passing to Isiaha Mike outside the top of the key where Mike hit the tying three with 19 seconds remaining to get the game into overtime. 

CALL IT A COMEBACK - PART 2: SMU rallied from 11 points down (23-12 at 6:03 1st half) to win 68-52 against Temple on January 18. Tyson Jolly had a career-high 25 points, with 22 points in the second half. He also had a career-high 14 rebounds with 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. It was the seventh time under Head Coach Tim Jankovich that the Mustangs allied from a double-digit deficit to win.

CALL IT A COMEBACK - PART 3: SMU trailed by 12 points at No. 20/20 Memphis (68-56 with 7:08 left), before closing the gap and winning 74-70. The Mustangs closed on a 15-0 run over the final 5:32 en route to the road win. Kendric Davis had 20 points and 5 assists, hitting 3 free throws in the final minute. Isiaha Mike had 13 points, all in the second half, including 8 in the final 15-0 run. 


KENDRIC 20-20: Kendric Davis is 70-80 at the FT line this season (87.5%, 2nd AAC, 26th NCAA). He made 40 of his first 41, hitting 20 before his first miss, then 20 more before his second miss. He was 11-14 in the game against UCF on Jan. 8, setting the SMU record for attempts in an AAC game and tying the record for makes in an AAC contest. He is 31-41 in 9 AAC games.

SCORING 20-20: In the win over UCF on Jan.8, the Mustangs had two 20-point scorers as Kendric Davis had 22 and Feron Hunt had 20 (career high). That was the second straight game with a pair of 20-point performances. In the comeback 92-81 overtime win at Vanderbilt, Davis scored 24 and Tyson Jolly had 21. That marks the first time for two 20-point scorers in consecutive games since 2015-16 against Nicholls 12/16/15 (W, 86-42; Ben Moore 22, Shake Milton 20) and Hampton 12/17/15 (W, 105-72; Sterling Brown 23, Jordan Tolbert 20).

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added seven items to the trophy case. SMU won the 2014-15 and 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won 2019-20 Southwestern Showdown and the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic. In 2013-14, SMU was the runner-up in the NIT.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE MUSTANGS (Current Roster): In the past few seasons, several Mustangs have played in international events or gone on international tours. Additionally, 2-time AAC Player of the Year and All-American Nic Moore helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea.
