DALLAS (SMU) – Four Mustangs agreed to terms as undrafted free agents at the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft, including Ryan Becker, Rodney Clemons, Xavier Jones, and Delontae Scott.
Ryan Becker | TE | Arizona Cardinals
Becker played in all 13 games for the Mustangs in 2019, making six starts, and spent significant time on special teams. On offense, Becker caught four passes for 30 yards and one touchdown.
The Marble Falls, Texas, native played in 49 games in four seasons on the Hilltop and registered 16 receptions for 198 yards and five touchdowns.
Rodney Clemons | S | Kansas City Chiefs
Clemons finished his career as the all-time leader in total games played on the Hilltop at 54 after starting all 13 in 2019. The All-American Athletic Conference Second-Team selection was second in the league with four interceptions and added nine pass breakups this season. Clemons finished third on the team with 78 tackles, including 3.0 for loss, and added a blocked kick, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Xavier Jones | RB | Los Angeles Rams
The Doak Walker Semifinalist and All-AAC selection finished the season with SMU records in total touchdowns (25), rushing touchdowns (23) and total points (150). He had at least one touchdown in each game this season and multiple in nine of the Mustangs' games.
His 48-career total TDs set an SMU record, while his 45 career rushing TDs place him third. Jones finishes his career with 3,436 rushing yards, placing him fifth on SMU's career rushing yards list.
Jones joins former Mustang Justin Lawler in LA. Lawler was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 Draft and helped the Rams to Super Bowl LIII.
Delontae Scott | Edge | Green Bay Packers
Second-team all-league selection Scott registered 18.5 TFLs in 2019, second in a single-season at SMU, and 10.5 sacks, fourth for a Mustang. Overall, he had 40 tackles and a team-leading three forced fumbles.
As part of the 2020 NFL Draft, James Proche was selected by the Ravens as the 22nd pick in the sixth round. Proche became the fourth Mustang drafted in three seasons, joining Lawler, Courtland Sutton and Trey Quinn, who were all selected in 2018. Proche's pick also marked the third wide receiver selected from SMU in three seasons.
