Windermere, Fla. (SMU) – Noah Goodwin climbed 15 spots on the individual leaderboard after a 2-under 70 in the final round to lead SMU at the Isleworth Collegiate.
Goodwin's 1-over 217 for the tournament was good to tie for 13th, and just two strokes out of the top 10. The senior opened the final day -2 on the back nine, including birdies on Nos. 13 and 16. His 14 birdies over three rounds was a tournament best, while his -8 total on par 5s was the second-lowest total.
This is the third straight top-15 finish for Goodwin, who also won SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational and tied for seventh at the Old Town Club Invitational. He now has 51 career rounds of par-or-better, tying him for seventh on SMU's all-time list.
Nathan Petronzio (74-74-72—220) went even par on the final 18 to improve four spots and finish tied for 29th. The finish is his best of the young season so far.
Holden Wisener (79-76-73—228) signed for his tournament low in round three, carding a 73, to finish the tournament +12 and tied for 58th.
Ollie Osborne (+15) and
Ben Wong (+26) rounded out the Mustang lineup at the event.
No. 4 Arizona State won the event at 11-under 853. Illinois finished second, two strokes back, and No. 21 Auburn was third at -2. Illinois' Piercen Hunt took home medalist honors at 7-under.
The Mustangs finished 11th as a team at 25-over 889, posting their lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday at +4.
The event wrapped up fall competition for SMU. The Mustangs are back in action January 24-26 for the Southwestern Invitational at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, California. The tournament can be seen on Golf Channel.
