IRVING, Texas (SMU) – Six SMU women's soccer players earned All-American Athletic Conference accolades, highlighted by Courtney Sebazco's first-team selection.

Wayny Balata, Brooke Golik, Katina Tsapos and Elisabeth Tse were all named to the league's second team. Tse and Sammy Nieves were also selected to the All-Rookie team.

Sebazco scored four goals, including game winners against Northwestern State and Rice. The senior midfielder also had four assists, including one from the corner flag against ECU to help SMU advance in the AAC Championship. She started all 16 games, playing all but four minutes this season.



Balata scored a team-high five goals, including both goals against ECU in the first round of the AAC Championship. She scored the game winner against Oklahoma and also tallied two assists on the season. The junior midfielder took a team-high 36 shots, putting 20 on goal.

Golik, a senior defender, and Tsapos, a senior midfielder, each played vital roles on a defense that recorded nine shutouts. The Mustangs posted five straight shutouts, tied for the second longest streak in program history, and held opponents scoreless for 552:08 consecutive minutes, the second longest stretch at SMU. Golik was credited with an assist in a 1-0 win against San Francisco, while Tsapos recorded her first point since the 2018 season with an assist at ECU.



Tse started all 16 games as a freshman defender, scoring twice with three assists. She scored her first career goal at Baylor and added the second against UCF. Nieves missed a majority of the early portion of the season due to injury, but has started each of the last seven matches. She scored at Cincinnati and added an assist against Temple.



The Mustangs have been ranked in the top 25 for eight straight weeks this season, climbing as high as No. 14, and are 11-3-2 overall. SMU plays top-seed and No. 23 USF Thursday in the AAC Championship semifinals in Tampa, Fla., at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
