DAVIS, Calif. (SMU) - No. 7 SMU dominated on Thursday afternoon in a 14-6 win over No. 8 UC Davis in the Mustangs' first of three matchups set to take place this weekend in California.

The Mustangs (3-3, 2-1Â ECAC) posted an impressive 8-2 record in Jumping Seat events while going 6-4 against the Aggies (1-2, 0-1 ECAC) on the Western side.

SMU started it's winning day early on by sweeping all five Fences points. Junior
Emma Jolly was named the event's Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) after riding to an event-high score of 87. Freshman

Devin Seek (82) and sophomore
Taylor Madden (79) all defeated their UC Davis opponents to help complete the sweep, an impressive feat as the visiting team.

The Horsemanship team earned a win after taking three points against the Aggies. Sophomore
Nya Kearns topped her opponent 74.5-66 to win the event's first point. The two teams then alternated points for the remainder of the event as seniors
Payton Neiberger and
Mallory Vroegh added two more for the Mustangs with scores of 70.5 and 73.6, respectively.
After jumping out to an 8-2 lead at the halfway mark, SMU used the momentum to claim 3-2 wins in both Flat and Reining to solidify the victory.

Madigan Eppink and sophomore
Taylor Madden all rode to wins in Flat competition. Seade posted a score of 79.5 to earn her point before Eppink and Madden both totaled 85.5 to tie for the event's highest score while clinching the team win for the Mustangs.Â
SMU junior
Dani Latimer led the way in Reining as she posted an impressive 72.5, which earned her the MOP honor for the event. Senior
Jill Pfisthner and sophomore
Chalyce Head went on to win their points as well with scores of 70 and 67.5, respectively, as the Mustangs claimed their second straight Reining win of the season.Â
Next up, the Mustangs travel to Fresno, California where they will compete against both No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 7 Fresno State over the span of Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6. SMU and Oklahoma State will compete in Flat and Horsemanship on Friday afternoon before finishing their meet with Fences and Reining on Saturday morning. Upon completion of the final two events on Saturday, SMU and Fresno State will compete in a full meet.
