Mustangs Fall To Metroplex Rival TCU

– No. 3 SMU dropped its mid-week contest at No. 7 TCU on Wednesday at Diamond Creek Ranch. Two Mustangs were named Most Outstanding Players during the crosstown matchup.

Wednesday's action started with Fences and Reining. In Fences, the Mustangs (2-1, 2-0 ECAC) secured two points with newcomers Taylor Madden and Alex Pielet defeating their Horned Frog (3-0, 0-0 BIG 12) opponents. Madden scored an 80 and Pielet earned a 76.

Over in Reining, Taylor Zimmerman and Aubrey Alderman tied with their opponents earning scores of 69.5 and 70, respectively. Jill Pfisthner put the Mustangs on the board for the event, winning her matchup 67.5-66.5. Dani Latimer earned her third MOP of the season in as many appearances with a score of 70.5 for an SMU Reining win of 2-1.

At the halfway point, the teams were tied at four points apiece. Starting back up with Flat, freshman Taylor Madden earned her second career point for SMU, scoring an 81 over her TCU opponent's 66.

The meet finished up with Horsemanship, where the Mustangs scored one point over the Horned Frogs. Freshman Nya Kearns earned her second MOP of the season and third SMU point with the event-high score of a 75.5.

SMU is back in action on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Dallas Equestrian Center as they take on No. 1 Auburn. Fans are permitted at the event and are encouraged to bring their own seating, food and beverages to the facility. Appropriate restrooms will be provided.
