AUGUSTA, Kan. (SMU) – SMU cross country placed seventh at the American Athletic Conference Championships. The Mustangs improved two spots over their 2019 performance during the cold conditions at 4 Mile Resort Course.
Featuring a seven-runner roster including three making their Mustang debut, SMU placed two inside the top 25 during their 7
th-place finish.. Freshman, Leoni Meirswa led the Mustangs with a 22
st-place showing (22:23.43) followed not too far behind by
Maddie Hulcy (22:26.28) who placed in 24th. Hulcy improved by 20 spots over her freshman year showing.
Junior
Tess Misgen (22:39.19) finished in 31
st, improving four spots over her 2019 performance. First-year Mustang,
Mia Olsen (22:59.38) came in 43
rd in just under 23 minutes.
Making her Mustang debut,
Jessie Crowley placed in 53
rd (23:32.47). Junior
Olivia Lackner placed in 62
nd (23:51.62) while
Lior Kremer (24:12.35) finished in 69
th.
The Mustangs placed just 21 points behind a top-five performance and held a comfortable 56-point lead over eighth-place Houston.
