MARTIN, Tenn (SMU) – No. 1 seed SMU won the inaugural Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Equestrian championship on Saturday after defeating UT Martin, 11-4, at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion. The title is the program's third consecutive conference championship after the 2020 championship was canceled.

The Mustangs (8-1, 5-0 ECAC) started the day strong, winning three points and tying one against the Skyhawks (3-5, 2-4 ECAC) in Fences.
Devin Seek earned the first point of the day with a 162 over her opponent's 137.
Alex Pielet had the high score of the event with a 168, which earned her the MOP.
Olivia Woodson won her point, 165-143, and
Taylor Madden tied her opponent at 163 for a 3-0 event-win for SMU.
SMU's Horsemanship team swept all four points for the second time this weekend.
Mallory Vroegh scored an event-high 155 to win the first Mustang point and her second MOP of the championship.
Aubrey Alderman won the second point with a score of 152 and
Nya Kearns scored a 153.5 to remain undefeated on the season.
Megan Waldron scored a 149.5 to complete SMU's sweep. The Mustangs headed into the halfway point ahead, 7-0.
The Mustangs needed one point in the second half of competition to secure the overall win. UT Martin won the first Flat point, but SMU answered when
Taylor Madden scored a 159 to win her point.
Madi Johnson and
Miranda Seade both earned their points for SMU with scores of 149 and 159, respectively, to win the event, 3-1, over the Skyhawks.
UT Martin finished with a 3-1 advantage in Reining.
Aubrey Alderman earned SMU its lone point of the event, scoring a 143 for her second point of the day.
SMU now awaits its seeding for the NCEA National Championships that will take place in Waco, Texas from April 15 to 17. Each team's seeding and the championship bracket will be announced on April 7.
